Picturing, Pledges and Other Scripted Acts: Performance (In) Art

This essay re-examines several examples of non-performance based artworks from the perspective and history performance art. For instance, photomontages I produced as an undergrad art student were on repeated acts stealing posters their public sites street between my house college. Later, while working collaboratively with Mark Hutchinson in Manchester London, we made photograms paintings scenes that enacted (striking a match, taking flag for walk). In Freee collective, used slogans, our own bodies, props to give material reality slogans treated scripts. We wrote manifestos staged events which participants read. So, forms are image based, rationale is typically tied techniques values performance.
